Building Blocks

Building Blocks for Sensory Integration

two-day, in-person course

This two-day, experiential course provides therapists with an in-depth understanding of the developmental and neuro-physiological links between sensory integration and the basic primary movement patterns that provide the foundation (or building blocks) for sensory modulation and integration.

Beginning with support of the primitive reflexes, we will explore the development of posture and its relationship to gross and fine motor skills along with visual and auditory function. This course will allow participants to fine tune their clinical observation skills for the clients who are often difficult to test using standard measures.

Hands-on demonstrations, movement labs, and video examples will highlight treatment strategies that can be implemented with and without therapy equipment, making them appropriate for all clinical settings. A range of intervention strategies designed to support functional performance will be presented, and attendees will leave with a systematic way to assess, document and treat the movement challenges that arise from the lack of effective sensory motor integration.

Hear from people who have taken our Building Blocks course

I took the course to learn more about reflex integration to use with the pediatric population I serve. Rated learning outcomes covered as “excellent.” Instructor was very knowledgable on the material covered. ~ALICIA

Great instructor, easy to follow. Really appreciated her willingness to answer questions as they came up during the session. Loved the videos of examples of practical applications/activities and discussion on how to modify them. ~ALLISON

Great explanation, use of videos for instruction in testing reflexes and for implementing treatment. Really appreciate the fact that a host was available for technical difficulties! ~BONNIE

This course came highly recommended by a senior colleague. I lacked knowledge in SI and reflexes. Sheila was excellent. You can tell that she has an overwhelming amount of experience and knowledge on the topic of sensory integration and developmental reflexes. She directly relates the topics to practice. She doesn’t overwhelm the class. Her videos make things so much more concrete and easy to use in practice. ~BRIDGETTE

Awesome job. Great examples shared and did a great job answering people’s questions but staying on topic. ~BROOKE

Presenter was very responsive to all participants feedback. The videos and slides were informative and relevant. ~BROOKE

Excellent organization of topics and presentation of activities. ~JACLYN

Loved it. Loved how it was interactive and I could clarify things on the go. Easier than in a huge ballroom at a hotel with 500 people. ~JENNIFER

This if my first live webinar CEU course, which to be honest I was somewhat nervous about. However, the course was run exceptionally well. Potential connection issues were handled prior to the course and the course timeline was followed. I look forward to taking another course!! ~JENNY

Very well prepared and she gave great practical examples and applications. ~JILL

Great preparation, great at integrating the questions from participants into the actual course content without getting too far off topic. Great at giving examples that helped me apply the knowledge to real-life clinical situations. I felt the clips chosen were great examples. ~KAREN
