SUMMARY:Sensorimotor Approach to Arousal Regulation and Developmental Trauma - Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Special Discounts Available!\nILAIMH Members = $140 & Students = $50 \nThere is a growing understanding and accompanying clinical practice that addresses the connection between sensorimotor integration dysfunction and trauma. When an individual cannot adequately process and integrate sensory information and/or traumatic experiences\, the body’s arousal and self-regulatory mechanisms become altered thus impacting our ability to adequately cope with seemingly harmless day-to-day stressors. \nThis workshop will explore the connections between trauma\, sensory integrative difficulties\, arousal\, affect\, and self-regulation. Participants will learn how sound and movement are critical in the development of body based\, perceptual-motor\, and social-emotional foundations for feeling safe in the world and in relationship to another. Treatment labs will explore the basics of auditory and vestibular/somatosensory processing\, and their relationship to arousal\, attachment\, self-regulation\, and learning. Video and case presentations will bring key concepts and treatment strategies to life in this theoretically based\, yet practical course. \n\n \n Register Here! \n \n\nThis course is sponsored by Illinois Association for Infant Mental Health and all registrations are managed through their organization. SUMMARY:Quickshifts - Shifting Gears - London Course
DESCRIPTION:This series of albums uses the principles of binaural beat technology and musical entrainment; where albums are specifically selected to match rhythms to clinical outcomes\, such as self-regulation\, bilateral motor coordination\, oculomotor functioning\, reflex integration\, attention\, and focus. Due to the practical implementation and immediate effect of these albums\, they are easily utilized in a variety of environments. Quickshifts can effectively be used in treatment sessions\, home programs\, school setting\, or as a support prior to times of increased anxiety\, such as during transitions. Even more\, you will learn how to solidify changes through treatment strategies that activate movement and the power of the core (posture/breath). Come learn how to develop precise and strategic intervention techniques for the clinic\, home\, and school. \n\n \n Enrollment Page\n \n \nInternational Location\nHamilton House\nMabledon Place\, Kings Cross\nLondon\, WC1H 9BD\nUnited Kingdom \nSchedule\nMonday\, October 14\, 2019\, 9:00am – 5:15pm BST \nLevel\nIntroductory \nInstructors\nAnna Richardson; B.Sc. SUMMARY:Therapeutic Listening Workshop - China
DESCRIPTION:An Introduction & Beyond\nDiscounts Available!\nGroup Price: 3+ person Registration – 9400 RMB per registrant\n三人团购:9400元／人 \nSpecial Offer: 7900 RMB per registrant (limited seats\, please confirm in advance)\n感恩价：7900元／人（名额有限，请提前咨询确认） \nNote: 1 set of Headphones\, handouts\, 4 online follow-up sessions are included in all above prices\n费用包含：课程费、4次线上督导；森海塞尔耳机一副（价值1500元）、资料费。 \nListening is the function of the entire brain and goes well beyond stimulating the auditory system. It is a voluntary act. Active listening is dynamic and continually adapting. Listening requires the desire to communicate and the ability to focus the ear on certain sounds selected for discrimination and interpretation. An individual actively listens and directs attention to sounds in the environment with the whole body. \nThrough the dedicated work of Sensory Integration by Dr. Jean Ayres and many others\, we have learned the way in which we take in\, process and adapt to sensations within our internal and external environment and that it has a direct impact on functional skills and occupational performance. Just as the vestibular\, somatosensory and visual systems play significant roles in sensory integrative treatment\, the auditory system has widespread connections to the brain and entire body. Thus\, the use of auditory-based therapy tools may be used to support improved sensory processing and integration—ultimately enhancing function. \nThis six-day workshop presents an evidence-based protocol\, which combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive approach that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges. Introductory topics will be discussed\, moving to in-depth instruction of Advanced Therapeutic Listening® and the application of the Quickshift™ albums. \nWho Should Attend:\nOccupational therapists\, speech/language pathologists\, physical therapists\, psychologists\, physicians\, educators\, special educators\, physical educators\, human services professionals and parents.
