SUMMARY:Therapeutic Listening Workshop - India Course
DESCRIPTION:An Introduction & Beyond\nListening is the function of the entire brain and goes well beyond stimulating the auditory system. It is a voluntary act. Active listening is dynamic and continually adapting. Listening requires the desire to communicate and the ability to focus the ear on certain sounds selected for discrimination and interpretation. An individual actively listens and directs attention to sounds in the environment with the whole body. \nThrough the dedicated work of Sensory Integration by Dr. Jean Ayres and many others\, we have learned the way in which we take in\, process and adapt to sensations within our internal and external environment and that it has a direct impact on functional skills and occupational performance. Just as the vestibular\, somatosensory and visual systems play significant roles in sensory integrative treatment\, the auditory system has widespread connections to the brain and entire body. Thus\, the use of auditory-based therapy tools may be used to support improved sensory processing and integration—ultimately enhancing function. \nThis three-day workshop presents an evidence-based protocol\, which combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive approach that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges. Introductory topics will be discussed\, moving to in-depth instruction of Advanced Therapeutic Listening® and the application of the Quickshift™ albums. \nWho Should Attend:\nOccupational therapists\, speech/language pathologists\, physical therapists\, psychologists\, physicians\, educators\, special educators\, physical educators\, human services professionals and parents. SUMMARY:Therapeutic Listening Workshop - China Course
DESCRIPTION:Group Discounts Available!\n4-person Registration – 7700 RMB per registrant\n8-person Registration – 6900 RMB per registrant \nListening is the function of the entire brain and goes well beyond stimulating the auditory system. \nThis six-day workshop presents an evidence-based protocol\, which combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive approach that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges. SUMMARY:Quickshifts - Revolutionizing the Use of Sound in Sensorimotor Integrative Treatment - South Africa Course
DESCRIPTION:In this one-day workshop\, we will explore the therapeutic application of Quickshifts and how these sound tools can be used to quickly shift states of alertness and set up the nervous system for optimal success. Participants will learn about Quickshifts’ theoretical underpinnings such as binaural beat technology\, musical entrainment\, the encoded movement patterns found in music\, and how accessing whole-brain processing further promotes basic and higher-level functions and processes. In addition\, participants will learn the specific musical qualities and various clinical applications of each Quickshift album. Audio samples\, case presentations\, and video examples will be provided so that participants gain first-hand experience with these sound tools. By the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to implement the use of Quickshifts into their practice settings and will understand how to select the best musical match between album and client to optimize therapy goals and outcomes. \n \n Enrollment Brochure\n \n \nInternational Location\nGolden Pipit\n241 End Street\nClubview\, Centurion\, 0014\, South Africa \nSchedule\n\n \n Full Agenda\n \n \nWednesday\, May 31\, 2016\, 9:00am – 4:30pm SAST\nCheck-in begins at 8:30am SAST. \nLevel\nIntroductory \nCourse Objectives\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nAssess an individual’s bilateral motor coordination\, state regulation and whole brain processing through movement and clinically based observation assessment tools and relate to functional difficulties of client.\nIdentify three movement activities that support vestibular\, proprioceptive\, auditory and visual functioning.\nMatch “Quickshift” albums to client’s clinical picture\, goals\, and functional outcomes.\n\n\nScroll down to Register.\n\n \n Continuing Ed \n \nParticipants will receive 6.0 contact hours for this course. \nClassification Code: Client Factors\, Performance Skills\, & Intervention\nTarget Audience: Occupational Therapy\nCompletion Requirements: Full Attendance\n\n \n\n \n Accessibility \n \nIn compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act\, Vital Links will make every effort to honor requests for reasonable accommodations made by individuals with disabilities\, including but not limited to written transcripts\, multiple viewing attempts\, and increased amount of time to complete training activities.
