SUMMARY:Feeling Safe\, Capable\, and Connected: A Sensorimotor Approach to Dynamic Posture Control
DESCRIPTION:Live In-Person Course\n\nOur earliest developmental experiences\, including the sensorimotor and relational components\, feed the expression of posture and our quality of movement. These fundamental experiences not only contribute to the external\, observable aspects of posture\, but also one’s sense of self-competence in the development of the physical “me” in the field of gravity and in relationship to another. In some instances\, the combination of key sensorimotor and relational components do not align to support the unfolding of stability\, mobility\, and freedom of expression through movement. This lack of postural integrity can negatively impact the development of fine motor\, gross motor\, postural attention for higher-level learning\, and our ability to fully engage with the people and events around us. \nAs therapists\, we must train our eyes to recognize\, through key clinical observations\, when these early foundations for posture and movement are disrupted. Furthermore\, by understanding the unfolding of the developmental sequence and the key sensorimotor inputs therapists will be better equipped to design and implement tailored interventions necessary for the development of adaptive posture and physical expression of emotion. \nThis course will explore the developmental unfolding of posture\, starting with the dynamic merging of sensations with key primary movement patterns to form our early physical base through the later development of anti-gravity skill\, bilateral integration\, and organized actions of relating in time and space. A combination of lecture\, video examples\, and experiential labs will be included throughout the course to further participants’ understanding of the developmental sequence and sensorimotor components of postural development and the affective\, qualitative aspects of movement. \n\n \n Register Here! \n \nThis course is sponsored by an outside organization and all registrations are managed through their organization. You may register via the following Registration Form. Please contact Advanced Pediatric Therapies with any questions: 360-885-4684. \nVital Links does not manage registrations for this course. \n\n \nLocation\nVancouver\, Washington \nSchedule\nDay 1: Friday\, September 12\, 2025\nDay 2: Saturday\, September 13\, 2025 \nInstructors\nSheila M. Frick; OTR/L \nCourse Objectives\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize how posture is the byproduct of optimal sensory processing and the unfolding of key developmental movement patterns.\nIdentify three treatment strategies that support the release of defensive tension patterns and the regulation of physiological arousal.\nUnderstand how the development of anti-gravity postural control contributes to our perception of body in space as an essential foundation for the development of all higher-level motor\, perceptual\, cognitive\, and affect regulation.\nRecognize the overlap between postural development and affective expression.\nIdentify three structured and unstructured clinical observations that inform a clinically reasoned approach to treatment.

SUMMARY:Embodied Sensation: Harnessing the Power of Interoception and Proprioception- Live Webinar w/ Recording
DESCRIPTION:Updated Course: Expanded Content for One-Day of Learning!\nRecording Access Available! \nProprioception and interoception are frequently discussed within the field of occupational therapy to describe one’s awareness of their body position relative to the world around them and internal signals. For individuals who experience difficulties with sensory modulation and sensory processing\, inadequate interoceptive and proprioceptive awareness may contribute to struggles with body awareness\, breath regulation\, adaptable states of arousal\, organized movement and praxis\, and regulation and awareness of homeostatic functions and affective emotion. Effective treatment strategies aim to modulate sensation\, and support proprioceptive and interoceptive balance within the context of meaningful occupational participation. \nDrawing from current science\, this course will explore the neurological and anatomical foundations for proprioception\, interoception\, and vestibular processing. Practical application and discussions will illuminate how these sensations play a key role in self-referencing and body mapping for enhanced sense of our physical and emotional self. Therapists will leave this course with a comprehensive understanding of these key therapeutic concepts\, along with a variety of practical and precise therapeutic activities that can be implemented across environments. \nReceive the Gertie Ball and Power Up Ball from Vital Sounds for the special rate of 15% off when you register for the Embodied Sensation: Harnessing the Power of Interoception and Proprioception course (S&H fees apply^). SUMMARY:Using Sound to Support Regulation and Bilateral Integration (expanded Quickshifts course) – Live Webinar w/ Recording
DESCRIPTION:Recording Access Available! \nIn this one-day course\, we will explore the therapeutic application of sound to support regulation and bilateral integration. Sound and movement are linked in both the structure and function of the brain. This course will review those connections and explore using aspects of sound for the purpose of promoting whole-brain processing\, sensory modulation and regulation\, perceptual motor skills\, spatiotemporal organization\, and cognition. Participants will learn about theoretical underpinnings such as binaural beat technology\, rhythmical entrainment\, and the encoded movement patterns found in music. This course will expand on these concepts through case and video presentations to show practical clinical applications. \nTake an additional discount of $15 per participant for groups of 3 or more individuals enrolling simultaneously under the same web-order.  \nScroll down to Register\nLocation\nOnline with Recording Option* \nSchedule\n\n \n Full Agenda\n \n \nFriday\, October 24\, 2025\, 9:00am – 4:30pm Central Daylight Time (CDT)\nCheck-in begins at 8:30am CDT\nTest begins at approx. 4:00pm CDT \nLive Webinar Registration Closes:\nFriday\, October 24 at 7:30am CDT \nRecording Registration Closes:\nFriday\, October 31 at 10:00am CDT \nCan’t make it on October 24? SUMMARY:Core Connections - Exploring the Core's Developmental Roots - Live Webinar w/ Recording
DESCRIPTION:Watch this course preview to gain insight into the early foundations for core development that later support and refine arousal regulation\, motor planning\, perceptual-motor skills\, organized behavior\, and engagement in the world around us. \nRecording Access Available! \nCore Concepts in Action Book – vitalsounds.com \nThis live\, online course (with recording access) will provide therapists with a clear description of musculoskeletal make-up of the “core” and will cover the research-based neurophysiological rationale for evaluating core development and function in individuals with sensory processing difficulties. Core function will be explored from its developmental roots in the unfolding of the primary movement patterns (innate reflex development). Two key patterns (Moro and Tonic Labyrinthine) and their connections to core development and self-regulation will be discussed. A specific play-based observation tool that identifies core movement challenges and assists in prioritizing treatment strategies will be presented and explored through movement labs. Along with assessment\, a variety of hands-on treatment strategies will be demonstrated through interactive\, online labs. Video case presentation will be used to show practical clinical applications. \nReceive the Gertie Ball and Power Up Ball from Vital Sounds for the special rate of 15% off when you register for the Core Connections course (S&H fees apply^).
