SUMMARY:Building Blocks for Sensory Integration
DESCRIPTION:This two-day\, experiential course provides therapists with an in-depth understanding of the developmental and neurophysiological links between sensory integration and the basic primary movement patterns that provide the foundation (or building blocks) for sensory modulation and integration. Beginning with support of the primitive reflexes\, we will explore the development of posture and its relationship to gross and fine motor skills along with visual and auditory function. Hands-on demonstrations\, movement labs\, and video examples will highlight treatment strategies that can be implemented with and without therapy equipment\, making them appropriate for all clinical settings. \n \n Enrollment Brochure\n \n \nLocation\nNazareth College\n4245 East Avenue\nRochester\, NY 14618 \nHeld in the Medaille Formal Lounge of Medaille Residence Hall \nSchedule\n\n \n Full Agenda\n \n \nDay 1: Sunday\, November 6\, 2016\, 8:15am – 4:30pm EST\nDay 2: Monday\, November 7\, 2016\, 8:15am – 4:30pm EST \nPlease Note: Daylight Savings Time ends @ 2:00am on November 6th. \nLevel\nIntroductory \nCourse Objectives\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the link between reflex integration\, postural development\, sensory modulation\, and behavioral challenges.\nEvaluate primitive and postural reflex development\, and identify its impact on daily function.\nDesign simple yet powerful strategies for integration across multiple environments.\n\n\nScroll to the bottom of the page to Register.\n\n \n Continuing Ed \n \n\nVital Links is an AOTA approved provider of continuing education. SUMMARY:Quickshifts - Revolutionizing the Use of Sound in Sensorimotor Integrative Treatment
DESCRIPTION:Early Bird Offer!\nEnroll by October 26\, 2016\n$300.00 (CAD) \nIn this one-day workshop\, we will explore the therapeutic application of Quickshifts and how these sound tools can be used to quickly shift states of alertness and set up the nervous system for optimal success. Participants will learn about Quickshifts’ theoretical underpinnings such as binaural beat technology\, musical entrainment\, the encoded movement patterns found in music\, and how accessing whole-brain processing further promotes basic and higher-level functions and processes. In addition\, participants will learn the specific musical qualities and various clinical applications of each Quickshift album. Audio samples\, case presentations\, and video examples will be provided so that participants gain first-hand experience with these sound tools. By the end of the workshop\, participants will be able to implement the use of Quickshifts into their practice settings and will understand how to select the best musical match between album and client to optimize therapy goals and outcomes. \n \n Enrollment Brochure\n \n \nInternational Location\nHotel Ruby Foo’s\n7655 Décarie Boul\nMontréal\, QC H4P 2H2\, Canada \nSchedule\n\n \n Full Agenda\n \n \nFriday\, November 11\, 2016\, 9:00am – 4:30pm EST\nCheck-in begins at 8:30am EST. \nLevel\nIntroductory \nCourse Objectives\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nAssess an individual’s bilateral motor coordination\, state regulation and whole brain processing through movement and clinically based observation assessment tools and relate to functional difficulties of client.\nIdentify three movement activities that support vestibular\, proprioceptive\, auditory and visual functioning.\nMatch “Quickshift” albums to client’s clinical picture\, goals\, and functional outcomes.\n\n\n \n Continuing Ed \n \n \nVital Links is an AOTA approved provider of continuing education.
