Innovative & Effective Uses of Suspension & Non-Suspension Equipment: Supporting Performance & Participation Across Environments

This one-day equipment and activities based course will explore the possibilities of suspension and non-suspension equipment across environments. Learn how to create, modify, and adapt therapy devices that are safe and low-cost for an array of clients in clinics, homes, and schools. Straight-forward instruction and demonstration on historically successful construction and installation strategies for suspension equipment will be provided. Beyond activity set-up, participants will be exposed to a variety of activities utilizing standard sensory integrative equipment often found in clinics and schools (swings, gym balls, scooter boards, etc.), as well as activities utilizing everyday objects found in the home (laundry baskets, blankets, pillows, etc.).

Activity discussions and analysis will be grounded in an introduction to sensory processing and integration of the vestibular, proprioceptive, and visual systems and their specialized and complementary functions relative to occupational performance. Furthermore, participants will learn how to individualize treatment and adapt activities moment-to-moment based upon a client’s unique clinical picture. This course is appropriate for therapists working in a variety of treatment settings looking to enhance their own variety and creative use of equipment to support clients’ functional outcomes.

Take an additional discount of $15 per participant for groups of 3 or more individuals enrolling simultaneously under the same web-order.
